Travel Tips
You can also consider taking a flight. There are about 10 pairs of flights between Xi'an and Kunming every day. The full price of the airfare is about 2,050 CNY.
However, you can check to see if there are any discounts in advance. Sometimes you can find very good discounts, such as 87% off (in April 2020). The price is even lower than that of a hard sleeper on a regular train!
Station Information
1. Note that Xi'an North Railway Station is about a 40-minute drive from the city center. Many public buses run to the station: 108, 263, 264, 265, 266, 329, 360, 362, 723, and 727.
2. Kunming South Railway Station is near the city center of Kunming, about 6 km (3 mi).
- There are over 30 public buses that can get you to the station: 2, 23, 24, 25, 31, 32, 44, 47, 58, 59, 60, 64, 68, 80, 83, 86, 107, 117, 134, 140, 154, 202, 236, 239, 242, and 914.
- Or you could take a taxi, which costs about 15 CNY.
3. Kunming South Railway Station is relatively far away from the city center, about 36 km (22 mi).

- The following public buses runs to the station: K32, K33, K34, K35, K36, K37, K38, K39, K40, K41, 42, 43, 919K, 920, 921, 922, 923, 924, 925, 927, 928, 929, 930, and 931.
