We do had three days in Beijing with Jiang. The organisation, driver and guiding was really great. We have been a group of 2 (couple). I think we would have needed nearly +30 percent more time to find the right queueing line at all the places. For us it was a hassel free and seamless enjoyment - to visit all the places and having a long hiking track at the great wall of china. thank you very much Jiang & china highlights & team. ps: we also tasted a lot of vegetarian food which was really great.

Jiang was an excellent tour guide, on time and always endeavoured to help. He helped us with requests such as buying tea. Otherwise, he was able to tell us a lot about his country and the culture. He was generally open to any questions we had. We really can recommend him as a tour guide in Beijing :)))

We had great days in Chengdu with our guide Helen. She is a nice women with knowledge about the history of Chengdu. We visited Buddha Park in Leshan and of course the amazing Pandas. We also can recommend the tea house park. It's a great experience - tasting tea and enjoying the atmosphere in this park while seating, drinking tea and watching the locals. Helen was able to answer all open questions. If you would like to buy smth special, she is doing her best to organize it for you. We can highly recommend Helen as a guide. Our tour guide was Evan who was very helpful and provided us with local recommendations and was informative. Whilst in Chengdu we went to the panda base, leshan Buddha, mount Qing Chen and the Dujiangyan irrigation site all guided by Evan. During our month touring China, we found Chengdu to be one of the highlights.

All the tour guides we had arranged via Carrie at China Highlights were excellent. We had Jessica in Beijing for the Forbidden City, the hutongs, followed by Mutianyu at the Great Wall. At the last minute, we arranged to go to the summer palace and had Mary as our guide. Paul in Xi'an guided us to the terracotta warriors and was very informative. We had Evan in Chengdu for the panda base, Mount Qing Chen, the Leshan Buddha and Dujiangan irrigation site. Evan was helpful and able to adapt to our pace. He also provided us with useful recommendations for local places to eat in Chengdu. When we went to Guilin and Yangshuo, we had LiPing, who was very good. She accompanied us to the Longji rice terraces, the boat trip to Yangshuo and the cormorant fisherman photo shoot. In Suzhou, we had Juliette who accompanied us to Tongli water town, the Tongli garden and the humble administrators garden. It was a truly relaxing morning on the boat in Tongli. Our day trips were well organised and enjoyable.

This was my first trip abroad and I was not sure what to expect. Our tour guide Lele in Guilin was beyond amazing. Lele provided us with extensive knowledge about the culture and its history. Lele was very accommodating and managed our family with ease and grace. Lele took the time to engage with us each personally throughout the trip which made the tour even more meaningful. Lele was always punctual and highly organized during our trip. Simply put, Lele makes it feel as if you are touring abroad with your best friend. You almost forget that you are away from home. Thank you China Highlights for your amazing tour and thank you Lele for your highly extensive level of professionalism and grace. If you have the opportunity to take a trip with this company do not hesitate. It is worth it.

We went to Lhasa through China highlights and stayed there for 3 days. It was a fantastic experience. We flew to Lhasa from Shangri-La in a two-hour flight. Before arriving, our permit and passport were checked several times as we are foreigners. The permit and the arrangement were done by China Highlights. As soon as we arrived, our tour guide Marry welcomed us with white silk scarfs and handed us countless fruits and two oxygen cylinders. From our room on the sixth floor of the Snow Mountain Hotel, we had a view of snow-covered mountains. The room had an oxygen supply and a humidifier. At first, walking just a couple of steps felt like we were about to fall asleep felt so dizzy. We were gasping for breath. We didn't have the courage to do anything, just sat in a chair, looked at the mountains and snow peaks, ate fruits, and slept. If we ate something, our heart rate would shoot from 90 to 140. We managed to sleep, thanks to the oxygen. We woke up feeling refreshed. At 9 AM the next morning, we set off with Mary in that huge car. Our first stop was the Drepung Monastery. This ancient monastery, over six hundred years old, is located 12,700 feet above sea level. As a result, our hearts and legs were protesting. We had to walk two kilometers and climb 400 stair steps. The monastery, the assembly hall, thousands of thangka paintings, countless Buddhas, Mahakali, Tara – all combined in room after room. Photography inside was prohibited. Marry provided able guidance to us and explained the history. After visiting Drepung, we drove to Norbulingka, which is the Dalai Lama's summer palace. There are three palaces and temples there. First, we visited the third Dalai Lama’s palace, then the thirteenth Dalai Lama’s, and finally the fifth to seventh Dalai Lama’s palaces. After touring the summer palace, it was around 1 PM. We went to a Nepali restaurant and had an Indian thali. After a long time, we had a meal truly enjoyed. From 2 PM to 4 PM, we visited the Sera monastery. First, we watched a debate between two lamas. One lama sat while another senior lama asked questions. If the answer was correct, they clapped loudly. If it was somewhat correct, they clapped softly, and if it was wrong, they just rubbed their hands together. There were 30/40 pairs of lamas busy in debating. After the debate, we visited the monastery that didn't have much elevation change, but there were about 100 of stairs and we had to walk another two kilometers. Each monastery spanned an area of about 10 to 12 square kilometers, almost like a small town. By 4 PM, I had seen everything for the day. Next morning at 9 o’clock, we set off in a car from the hotel to visit the Potala Palace. When we arrived at the base of the Potala Palace, we saw a lot of people. Now, it was the time to show our tickets and permits. After passing through multiple security gates, we entered the palace area around 10 a.m. The climb began—400 feet up. The view of the palace atop the mountain was incomparable: some parts were red, some black, and some white. The walls, made from rose branches mixed with yak dung, coloured in red, looked like velvet. Our guide, Marry, explained that the rose branches were very strong and significantly lighter than stone. This palace is repainted every year, and to paint the upper parts, the wall is doused with paint from above. There are numerous stairs to climb, and we were panting after each few steps. Of course, this is because we're at 12,600 feet above sea level, and our stamina is limited. No more breathlessness, but now, my legs could barely keep going. Slowly, with many breaks, we made our way up. As we climbed, we saw the snow-covered peaks of mountains. We took pictures as we went up . Before I knew it, we had reached the top. Next came the inside tour. No more pictures, because photography is prohibited inside the palace. Marry, our guide, told us that there are 999 rooms in the palace, but we were allowed to see about fifty of them, and that was only with special permission. We began viewing room after room—some were Buddhist temples, others were dedicated to Mahakali or Indian guru Padmasambhava, and some had thousands of Buddha statues. Bodhisattva were very prominent here, symbolizing knowledge and devotion. What I learned about the Bodhisattva is this:"The thousand-handed Bodhisattva is a Buddhist symbol of love, capable of taking the extraordinary form of eleven heads, a thousand eyes, and a thousand hands to help all who seek her aid." We also saw the Dalai Lama’s residence, the place where he would meet visitors, many murals, many tankhas, and more. People were lighting lamps, chanting "Om Mani Padme Hum," and prostrating on the ground. Tibetans offer money to the deities and Buddha. Among the offerings, I even saw a 100-rupee note from India, amid many Chinese currency notes. We saw three mandalas, made from 500 kilos of gold and countless gems, with lamas meditating in front of them. We visited the tomb of the Dalai Lamas and the golden pagoda. This palace contains 3,700 kilos of gold and a large number of precious stones and gems. The palace, which dates back to the 7th century, was rebuilt during the reign of the subsequent Dalai Lama. Initially, Dalai Lama resided in the Drepung Monastery, but later, the Potala Palace became his residence and office. At 1 p.m., we began the slow descent. Our body was giving up, but somehow, we managed to reach the bottom. We got into the car and went to the Lhasa Namaste Restaurant. After eating juice, naan, potato-cabbage, and dal makhani, I regained some strength. Next, we visited the Jokhang Temple. The Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, Tibet, was founded around 647 CE by King Songtsen Gampo to house the Jowo Rinpoche, a statue of Shakyamuni Buddha brought to Tibet by his Nepalese queen, Princess Bhrikuti. We saw Shakyamuni's temple, Bodhisattvas, Buddha, Manjushri Buddha, various Yamarajas, deities, numerous thankas, and murals. The top of the temple glistened with golden water." By 3 p.m., our tour was over. Next, we visited Barkhor Street. We explored many old shops and, after walking around, became tired. We went to a Tibetan shop to try butter tea. Tibetans mix butter, tea, and salt, stirring it for a long time before drinking it. We didn’t like it, so we switched to Tibetan milk tea, which was much better. Our Lhasa expedition came to an end. We were exhausted. Next day, we return home, back to our old life. Lhasa will remain a cherished memory in our hearts. hanks t Marry and China Hightlights for providing such a memorable trip..

We had a fun 6 days private tour to Wuxi, Yixing, Suzhou and Xitang where MI 3 was filmed. Our tour guide Brenda is very knowledgeable about Chinese history, rearranged our schedule to avoid holiday crowds, took us to local restaurant where we got to try delicious authentic local specialties, and gave us great recommendations we requested outside our tour like restaurants in Shanghai and spa for massage. And she took many pictures for us :) Highly recommend.

Enjoyed a 1-day tour in Suzhou with our tour guide Alan. He was fluent in English and gave us many interesting tidbits about the history of various attractions as he brought us around. He catered to the needs of our group - ensuring that vegetarian food was available during lunch, allocating ample time for us to shop and explore while ensuring that we were on time for our high speed rail back to Shanghai. Thanks to his effective planning and communication with the driver/rickshaw riders, the tour proceeded smoothly. The itinerary was relaxed, but we got to see a bit of everything - Panmen was scenic and not crowded, Master of Nets garden was small but beautiful, the rickshaw riders were skillful in navigating the traffic, Pingjiang Road was bustling with activity and a great place for phototaking with canals. Our one night stay at Artyzen Habitat Hotel was comfortable, gym was clean and spacious, the hotel breakfast had a good selection of food. Thank you to our travel advisor Coco for planning the trip as well.

Zhangjiajie Travel Reviews

I and my wife spent two gorgeous days inside the Zhangjiajie National Park. Our guide Abbie and the travel company China Highlights were able to organize a wonderful experience. No queue at all, we were able to spend all our time looking the amazing picks, making pictures, listening all the stories about different pick names that Abbie told us, walking in the beautiful nature and along the river. The visit to the park took more than 5 hours a day and we walked for more than 10 km. At the end of the daily activities we had very good lunch. The guide was able to provide us walking sticks, rain jackets, sneaks and fruit overcoming our little problems, making our experience even more pleasant.

Our guide, Ms. Bree was outstanding and very knowledgeable and accommodating in all aspects of what we wants and needs in this fantastic journey throughout seeing the amazing wonder, China. Aside, China has a deep history and cultural heritage we enjoyed much; our 6 days with Ms. Bree was something I didn’t expect, 3 days in Fenghuang and the next 3 days in Zhangjiajie were very memorable and something to reminisce about in the future. The Tianmen Mountain and cave including the Glass Walkway and the cable car going up the mountain were just amazing! Next, the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park where the “Avatar and Pandora” were seen there in our dreams is another wonder of the world; going up on the, I think, 326 meters vertical Bailong Sightseeing Elevator in 1.5 minutes, presenting the views of the towers pinnacles all over the horizon were remarkable to behold; and the wonderful Hallelujah Mountain standing into heaven! The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon with the long connecting Glass Bridge, the zip line…. was another excellent place to explore.

Our tour guide cum driver for Kunming, is Jack Lee. He took good care of us, especially when there is any descending or ascending hike during the trip. He gave excellent suggestion for dinner and even show us the authentic way to eat the food. We had a fantastic 6 days in Dali area. Our guide, 王立婷, is from the Bai ethnic group. She is very knowledgeable in the custom and history of Yunnan as well as the different Ethnic group of the area. We learn a lot of interesting things from her. If I were to go to Dali again, I will definitely look for her. The last stretch of our trip, is 3 days in Lijiang with our guide , 和绍春. He is from the Naxi Ethnic group. He shared with us his knowledge of his people and also how to handle high altitiude. Luckily for us, we had him to look out for us as some of us were unwell during and after the ascent of Yulong snow mountain. Thumbs up to Lijiang guide Jack, he’s one of the few guides who would hike up the mountain side by side with guests. Our special thanks goes to our guides - James (Shangrila), Jack (Lijiang), Alice (Dali), Lydia and May (Kunming). We loved the beautiful bike ride, the relaxing strolls through the old town, and especially the unforgettable tie-dye experience with a local family. She connected wonderfully with our children and made sure every detail was just right. The hotel she chose for us was also beautiful—truly a 5-star experience. Thank you so much, Daisy! We’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.

We did not know what to expect as this was as our first trip to China - we are into the outdoors so we picked Yunnan as a destination, as it was knownfor its scenic beauty. We had heard about China’s progress in the past 30 years, but that did not prepare us for the amazing infrastructure, the excellence of telecommunications what is essentially a remote part of China- Imagine perfectly paved mountain roads with not a single pothole and 5G signal even in the most unlikely of places - mountain tops, deep gorges etc . The tour destinations and highlights were amazing. Just when we thought we had reached the height of our tour the next day gave us more jaw dropping sights. We have traveled a lot all over the globe, but we must say this trip gave us the biggest bang for the buck in our experience Our tour organizer, China Highlights was great. - ours was a private tour, just the two of us - the car was comfortable and everything ran like clockwork. Every tour guide we had on each part of our tour deserve special mention: May from Kunming, Scarlett from Dali, Eleanor from Lijiang and Anna from Shangri-La displayed passion, knowledge and dedication to their role. They were motivated good natured, humorous, and anticipated our every need. They were always concerned about our comfort and satisfaction. Our Driver Mr. Wang who drove us from Dali to Shangri-La, was safe and steady. Given the wonderful service that we received from these individuals and from China Highlights, we are already planning our next trip to China within the next few months. China, we love you and wish we had discovered you sooner!

We are very well taken care of by our guides: Lulu in Kunming, Scarlett in Dali, Martin in Lijiang, and Betsy in Shangri-la. All our guides are local people, which is a great advantage for their local knowledge. Be it local history, customs, food and shopping tips. This trip started in Kunming which is a mile high city and ascended higher and higher. Those who are not familiar with high altitude will be better off listening carefully to their advices. Special shout out to Scarlett, our guide in Dali who went out of her way to take care of us even after we moved on to another city.. She had very good burgers delivered to our hotel when we did not want to venture out for dinner. Hotels selected by China Highlights are all fine. Breakfasts at the hotels are all good, especially if you like Chinese breakfast. We think veggies and chicken meat are much tastier than back home. Late March could be colder than forecast at times. While we were there, most flower blooms were pinkish. Cherry blossoms are at their peak together with crabapples. At Kunming Botanical Garden, there are more flower varieties to see. It’s off the beaten track however, accessible using the Didi app. It’s not crowded and it is very pleasant to walk there. Allow 2 hours for walking around.

We were pleased to have Tony leading us the mountain tour of Huangshan and Qiyun mountain. He is knowledgeable, experienced and have good mannerisms. We enjoyed the cultural and historical stories he shared, and he could communicate bilingually while we could practice our Mandarin too. Flying in from the US, this private tour eased us into the tourist visit of China. We liked the Tunxi Ancient Street evening walks too, we enjoyed the shops of traditional arts and crafts, teas, candies, and even a centuries-old TCM pharmacy still in operation. Hongcun Village was interesting. Unfortunately, our tour coincided partly with the Ching Ming public holiday in China, there were many local tourists and foreign semi-retired folks like us should try to avoid such dates as possible. For overseas Chinese and foreigners, we recommend Tony as he can share more if one is interested in Chinese history especially local history and culture as well.
