Our advice:
We don't recommend staying in small guesthouses or very budget hotels in Jiefangbei area. The facilities and services may not always match the photos you see online.

This area feels more local and lived-in. You'll easily find affordable local eateries around. There are also plenty of riverside bars, perfect for a relaxed drink with a view.

What are the Recommended Hotels in Chongqing?
Chongqing is a mountain city with dense and layered buildings. Maybe you have seen on social media that many budget and mid-tier hotels are located inside the same mixed-use buildings.
Different hotel names. Different floors. Shared lifts. You may feel unsafe. Sometimes, cars can't even drive right to the entrance. Dragging luggage uphill in an 8D city is not fun.
That's why all the hotels we recommend are:
- Car-accessible
- Easy to locate
- Personally inspected or stayed in by us
- Front desk staff able to communicate in basic English
The price range is from standard rooms to suites.
InterContinental Chongqing Raffles City (Jiefangbei)
| Luxury | Price ranges: 2,000-4,000 CNY |
One of the most luxurious hotels in Chongqing. It sits inside the sail-shaped towers of Raffles City, very iconic. Even YouTube star IShowSpeed stayed here during his trip to China in Chongqing.
InterContinental Chongqing Raffles CityMost rooms enjoy sweeping river views. Beyond that, you can also:
- Wander along the sky corridor high above the rivers
- Enjoy a drink at the garden bar
- Watch the drone show at their restaurant (from the back-facing angle)
- Step onto the outdoor terrace and glass viewing platform for stunning skyline views
It's also best for Yangtze River cruise guests, as Chaotianmen Dock is right downstairs. On embarkation day, you avoid long cross-city transfers.
The Lixury Hotel Chongqing (Jiefangbei)
| Luxury | Price ranges: 1,500-2,800 CNY |
The biggest highlight here is the view. The hotel shares the same building as the WFC Huixianlou Observation Deck, so you enjoy a similar panoramic perspective.
The Lixury Hotel ChongqingChoose rooms numbered 01-09 if you book a river-view room. The lower the room number, the wider and better the river view.
You can walk 5-8 minutes to Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street and Hongya Cave.
Downside: no swimming pool
Four Points by Sheraton (Jiefangbei)
| 4-star | Price ranges: 500-1,600 CNY |
If your top priority is the most central and convenient location, this is it. The hotel sits right in the center of Jiefangbei. Step downstairs, and you're already on the pedestrian street.
Some rooms face the Liberation Monument directly. Location-wise, it doesn't get more convenient and cost-effective than this.
On New Year's Eve, the area gets extremely crowded. But if you want to catch the countdown, you can enjoy a bird's-eye view from your room, no squeezing through dense crowds.
Somerset Yangtze River Chongqing (Jiefangbei)
| 4-star | Price ranges: 400-1,300 CNY |
If you're looking for better value while avoiding the crowds, this is a smart option.
Its window views and suit living roomLocated along the Yangtze River outside the CBD, the surroundings are much quieter and rarely congested. From your room, you can enjoy open river views and see the golden twin towers along Nanbin Road across the water, especially beautiful at night.
Downsides: There are very limited dining options nearby. It's also farther from the metro and main attractions, about a 20-minute walk to Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street and 18 Steps.
And you'll mainly rely on taxis to get around.
Chongqing Jixiashan SUNYATA Resort Hotel (Nanbin Road)
| 4-star | Price ranges: 1,500-3,000 CNY |
If you like boutique hotels, SUNYATA is one of the few retro villa-style stays in Chongqing.
Chongqing Jixiashan SUNYATA Resort HotelIt's located in Longmenhao Old Street, so when you stay here, you'll feel a sense of calm right in the middle of the city. For senior travellers or quiet seekers, it's quite pleasant to stay in.
As you relax in your room or sit in the courtyard, the river views you enjoy are quite different from those in the high-floor hotels.
The flowing Yangtze River, with the yellow Huguang Guild Hall, the red Dongshuimen Bridge, and the moving Yangtze River Cableway, all unfold right before your eyes. Even without leaving the hotel, you can capture plenty of stunning photos.
