12 Day Family Tour to the 4 Corners of China!
The activities were carefully picked, some of them were obvious like the things you have to see (Forbidden City, Great Wall, Panda bears...), but even these involved good choices by the guides of exactly where to go inside a massive site. We saw a lot of panda bears! The guides were super knowledgeable in the history and culture, and we learned so much more from their contribution than if we just went and looked at old (beautiful) buildings. ? more

Loved Chengdu with guide EVAN
Our guide Evan was excellent. He was knowledgeable about the places we visited in and around Chengdu, as well as about Chinese history and Buddhism. He was also adept at navigating the complexities of crowds, hot weather, and ticket lines. He knew the best places to go at the Panda center, so we saw a lot of pandas even on a hot day.He still remained in contact, helped us see a Sichuan opera, and offered useful advice to us. Evan was really top as a guide and just a great guy to hang out with, and thanks also to Ellen at China Highlights who expertly organized the whole tour. more

There are three ski resorts around Chengdu: Xiling Snow Mountain Ski Resort, Jiudingshan Prince Ridge Ski Resort, and Emeishan Ski Resort.
Xiling Snow Mountain Ski Resort
Referred to as the Oriental Alps, Xiling Snow Mountain Ski Resort, covering an area of over 375 hectares, is considered to be one of the most successful ski resorts in China. Located in the west of Chengdu city, it takes about 2½ hours to get there by car.
Feature
China's best alpine ski resort
Facilities
As a well-equipped ski resort, Xiling Snow Mountain Ski Resort maintains a minimum stock of 2,000 rental ski sets as well as a fleet of 35–40 snowmobiles that can be rented. In recent years, more and more tourists have flocked to Xiling Snow Mountain Ski Resort, so queuing is inevitable from time to time, especially on weekends and during the Spring Festival holiday.
Meals
There are Chinese and Western bars and restaurants at the ski resort.
Accommodation
Yinxue Hotel: Opened in 2012, Yinxue Hotel is located halfway up Xiling Snow Mountain, very close to the cableway and shuttle bus station. A floor heating system is applied to keep the rooms cozy. You will need to take the cableway up to get to the hotel. Since the cableway closes at 5pm, it's recommended you arrive before 4pm to allow enough time for queuing.
Scandina Resort Hotel: Consisting of eight Nordic-style villas, the resort is considered to be the best hotel on Xiling Snow Mountain. There are only 38 rooms, so early booking is recommended.
Suggested Itinerary
A two-day tour with one night's stay in the resort is recommended:
Day 1: Our guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Chengdu and escort you directly to the resort. Arrive at noon, check-in to the hotel, and enjoy lunch. Start the skiing tour in the afternoon. Stay overnight in the resort.
Day 2: Enjoy more skiing in the morning and have lunch. Go back to Chengdu in the afternoon.
Jiudingshan Prince Ridge Ski Resort
Newly opened on December 13, 2014, Jiudingshan Prince Ridge Ski Resort is now the largest and best ski resort in southwest China. About 165 kilometers (102 miles) from Chengdu city, it is a 3-hour drive to get there.

During the 2014–2015 snow season, Jiudingshan Prince Ridge Ski Resort opened 13 pistes, with a total length of 4,200 meters (3 miles), including eight beginner pistes, two middle-level pistes, and three advanced level pistes. The resort can accommodate 5,000 tourists daily..
Meals
There are two restaurants at the resort which can accommodate 2,000 people at the same time, supplying Tibetan dishes, such as yak meat, mutton, and wild mushrooms.

Suggested Itinerary
It's recommended to combine the Leshan Giant Buddha and Gold Summit with skiing to make a three-day tour:
Day 1: Set off from Chengdu and arrive at the Leshan Giant Buddha in two hours. Climb up to the Buddha and then head to Emeishan City (one hour). Arrive in the late afternoon and stay overnight in a hotel at the foot of Mount Emei.
Day 2: Get up early as it takes about two hours to reach Gold Summit. After the Gold Summit tour, enjoy lunch near Leidongping Parking Lot and go down to the Emeishan Ski Resort to start skiing in the afternoon. Get back to the hotel at the foot of the mountain for an overnight stay.
Day 3: Check-out and go back to Chengdu.
The best time to ski around Chengdu is from mid-December to early March, when the snow conditions remain stable. The snow on the pistes quickly reaches a depth of 60 centimeters when it snows, and remains at 60–80 centimeters deep during this period.
Note: It's recommended to avoid the Spring Festival holiday and weekends, when there will be crowds of local people and queuing is definitely inevitable. What's more, the price will be higher on weekends and triple during holidays. (Weekends are Friday to Sunday. The Spring Festival holiday of 2016 is from February 7 to 13).
