Thanks to Helen and China Highlights for an amazing time in Chengdu.
![]() I highly recommend Helen, who guided our group of three during a private two-day tour in Chengdu. From start to finish, Helen was proactive, enthusiastic and incredibly insightful. She shared fascinating information about the places we visited and offered deeper context about the culture and history of Chengdu and Sichuan. Her eloquent English, extensive local knowledge and friendly, accommodating nature truly elevated our experience. Her flexibility, patience and genuine passion made our stay far more enjoyable than it would have been on our own. She went above and beyond, making us feel like friends rather than just clients. Here are some highlights of what made our time with Helen so memorable: - Panda Centre: She knew exactly where and when to go to avoid crowds and see the pandas at their most active. - People's Park: She introduced us to the local lifestyle, including tea-drinking rituals, line dancing and even the fascinating 'marriage market.' - Local Market: At our request, she guided us to buy very sweet mandarins and pears from a local market. - Jinsha Museum: She provided detailed and engaging explanations, bringing the artifacts and history to life. - Jinli Old Street: She led us to the most interesting spots, helped us purchase local snacks and ensured we didn’t miss anything special. - Sichuan Opera: She arranged for us to watch an incredible performance at the city’s best opera house. - Local Restaurants: She took us to authentic local eateries far from the typical tourist traps — hidden gems we would never have found on our own, even with Baidu Maps. - Community Centre: As an unexpected bonus, Helen introduced us to a local community centre supporting the elderly and individuals with special needs, which was a heart-warming experience. more

![]() Helen in ChengDu was our guide. Beside her deep knowledge and experience, she is a very sweet, smiley and pleasant lady. She speaks very well English and Mandarin. Visited SanxinDui and the Panda was the best thing to do in Chengdu. Wish we had more time to explore. more

Suggested Itinerary
Your private guide will be ready to meet and greet you at the arrivals hall. A comfortable (no-smoking) private car with an experienced driver will transfer you directly to your hotel, where your guide will help you to check-in.
The tour will start with a long drive from Chengdu to Mount Siuniang: 5 hours to drive 200 km (124 miles). We will arrange for a private guide and air-conditioned vehicle to pick you up from your hotel and you can have a nap during the journey. To break up the long drive, you'll stop at Yingxiu Town, about 2 hours from Chengdu. There is a 2008 Earthquake Memorial Site there, the ruin of Xuankou Middle School. The buildings remain as they were after the quake and the whole area has been cordoned off and made into a memorial site.
You may if you choose have a walk in the town and pay a short visit to the Memorial Site. Lunch will be arranged at a local restaurant.
Continue the car journey and you'll arrive at Mount Siguniang at around 3 pm. Your private guide will accompany you on a walk around the mountain area for a relaxing afternoon. Dinner will be arranged at a local restaurant.

Your tour will start after breakfast in the hotel. Listed as a World Heritage site in 2006, Mount Siguniang National Park is home to a diversity of animals, many of which are rated in China as first-priority protected species, including the Sichuan golden monkey, white-lipped deer, clouded leopard, and giant panda.
Over 1,000 plant species have been recorded in the National Park. The tour will cover a visit to Shuangqiao Valley and Changping Valley. We will arrange a shuttle bus for you, to save time and energy. It is a round trip of about 4 hours, with 30-minute stops at each site. Your guide will accompany you on the tour and arrange lunch and dinner for you.

After breakfast, head back to Chengdu. During the tour, we will stop at the Wolong Panda Research Center. Wolong National Nature Reserve is regarded as the real hometown of wild pandas.
Tragically, the Wolong Panda Center was largely devastated by the catastrophic 2008 earthquake. The new Wolong Panda Research Center was opened to the public in May 2016 and China Highlights was the first tour company to inspect it.
You will see pandas of different ages there. After the tour, have lunch near the center and continue on your journey back to Chengdu Airport. Flights taking off after 7 pm are recommended, to ensure you have enough time.
