Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (SZX) is about 50 kilometers away from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), and there are three ways to travel from one to the other.
The ferry boats were temporarily suspended based on the current Covid-19 pandemic situation. Passengers can ask for updated information by contacting Shenzhen Airport's ferry terminal at 0755-23455300, 0755-23455388
1. Easiest Way: by Ferry
Fuyong Ferry Terminal is in the south corner of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport. It provides ferries to SkyPier at Hong Kong International Airport.
There are four ferries, which depart every day at 08:35, 11:30, 15:30, and 18:30. You can get to HKIA in 40 to 50 minutes.
You can go through the check-in procedure, get your boarding pass, and consign your luggage at Fuyong Ferry Terminal or SkyPier. The check-in procedure is generally faster at SkyPier than it is in Hong Kong International Airport.

2. Cheapest Way: by Direct Bus
You can take a direct bus from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, pass through the border at Shenzhen Bay Port, then take the same bus to Hong Kong International Airport.
More than 40 buses depart every day from 07:50 to 22:10. A ticket costs 90 yuan and the whole journey takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. As the buses also go through downtown Hong Kong, you are advised to set aside 2 hours or more for this journey.
There are two arrivals halls in Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and you can book a bus ticket in both of them. The service counter in hall A is next to door 3, while it is next to door 5 in hall B.
After arriving in Shenzhen Bay Port, get off the bus and pass through the border. The bus you just took will wait for you at the other side of the port and it will take you directly to Hong Kong International Airport.
3. Late Night Option: Pass Through Huanggang Port
If you arrive late at night when there are no ferries, buses, or metro trains in operation, you can take a taxi to Huanggang Port, which is open 24 hours a day, then pass through the port and take another taxi to HKIA.
After you have flagged down a taxi, show the following sentences to the driver to indicate where you are going:
- 请带我去皇岗口岸 (Please take me to Huanggang Port.)
- 請帶我去香港機場 (Please take me to Hong Kong International Airport.)
The taxi fare from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport to Huanggang Port costs about 150 yuan, and the fare from Huanggang Port to HKIA costs about 350 HKD. You are advised to take enough cash to pay the bill. Exchange your currency into RMB or HKD in Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport or at Huanggang Port.
Be sure you get in certified taxis, which have a taxi light on the top, the company name on the door, and use a meter to calculate the fee. See how to take a taxi in China.
