Clothing: Most buildings are heated. Because there is a big temperature drop after dark, it is best to dress in layers. See the Siberian Tigers
Siberian Tiger Park: The Siberian Tigers love cold weather. This huge cat is the biggest surviving breed of big cat. They can weigh 225 kilograms or 500 pounds. These animals are housed on about 250 acres of land in an area just north of Sun Island across a branch of the Songhua River. They are bred there along with other large cats such as pumas, lions and Bengal tigers.
It is thought that less than 500 of them survive in the wild in Russia and China. So the breeding program may be the only way to preserve the species. Visitors can ride in vans or walk around their fences and even feed the animals.

St. Sophia Orthodox Cathedral: This structure has long been one of Harbin's main landmarks. It might be a surprise to see a Russian Orthodox cathedral in China. It was built in the early 20th century when Harbin had a very large Russian population, and it still serves the large Russian expat community.
Inside, the artwork and architectural features are beautiful and unusual. The exterior looks awesome as well whether by day or night. It is 53 meters (174 feet) high, and it looks much like the cathedral that is in Red Square in Moscow. It is located in the center of Harbin, and there are other interesting foreign-built buildings of a variety of styles that were built in the same era. You can can see them in a walking tour of the area.
Central Street
Central StreetHarbin Central Market: This cobblestone street is a place to go for a walk, see the old Russian and foreign buildings that are almost a hundred years old, and shop for Russian, Chinese and international goods.
This stretch of street is more than a kilometer long (about a mile) and lined with stores, restaurants, and malls. In the stores, you'll find Russian food and goods such as furs, vodka, souvenirs, and dolls. There are Russian restaurants and other international restaurants. St. Sophia Cathedral and Zhaolin Park are both within two blocks away.

Low Travel Season
The busy Winter Fest and Spring Festival travel rush is over, and prices are low for hotel rooms, flight tickets and train tickets. It is a good time to come for winter scenery at lower prices. Our train schedule and train ticket pages are very good.
