Chengdu South Railway Station has a superior geographical position with Hongxing Road to the east, Yuanhua Road to the west, and Sanhuan Road to the south. It is 5.5 kilometers (3.4 miles) from Tianfu Square, 24 kilometers (15 miles) from Chengdu Railway Station, 9 kilometers (6 miles) from Chengdu East Railway Station, and 1,076 kilometers (669 miles) from Kunming Railway Station.
It is very convenient to use metro lines 1, 7, and 18 to get to the other destinations from Chengdu South Railway Station. The ticket service outside the station is available from 8:00am to 6:00pm daily; however, passengers can also book online or via a telephone booking service.
Chengdu South Railway Station serves as a supporting project for the Chengdu – Mianyang – Leshan high-speed railway line, and it has become a comprehensive transport hub with trains, buses, taxis, and metro lines combined perfectly as one, including a seamless connection between metro lines 1 and 7. There are 12 bus lines available from the square at Chengdu South Railway Station, and a social parking lot is also available below the station.
Chengdu South Railway Station deals with express trains and high-speed trains as well as the ordinary trains, where the major railway lines include Chengdu – Kunming Railway, Chengdu – Guizhou Railway, Chengdu – Chongqing Railway, and Dazhou – Chengdu Railway.

Located in the north of Shuangliu County, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is 18 kilometers (11 miles) from downtown Chengdu and 13.6 kilometers (8.5 miles) from Chengdu South Railway Station, and it takes about 1 ½ hours to get there from the station by metro. There are three ways to reach the airport from Chengdu South Railway Station.
1. Take metro line 1 to Gaoxin Stop from Chengdu South Railway Station and walk 100 meters (330 feet) to Tianyi Road, and then take metro line 4 to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.
2. Take bus 236 to Yizhou Avenue from Chengdu South Railway Station and walk 120 meters (396 feet) to Tianyi Road, and then take metro line 4 to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.
3. Take a taxi direct from Chengdu South Railway Station to the airport at a cost of approximately 40 RMB.
Chengdu has a general rate for taxis which is 8 RMB for the first 2 kilometers (1.2 miles), 1.9 RMB for every additional kilometer from the 2nd kilometer to the 10th kilometer, and 2.85 RMB for each additional kilometer from the 10th kilometer during the daytime (6:00am to 10:00pm). However, the general rate is 9 RMB for the first 2 kilometers (1.2 miles), 2.3 RMB for every additional kilometer from the 2nd kilometer to the 10th kilometer, and 2.2 RMB for each additional kilometer from the 10th kilometer during the nighttime (from 10:00pm to 6:00am).
In addition, 2 RMB is also charged to passengers each time as a banker surcharge, and a 50% return charge is required when the distance exceeds 10 kilometers (6.6 miles). Therefore, it is necessary for passengers to close the bargain before getting in the taxi and request an invoice before payment, or insist on meter use.
Chengdu has an advanced public bus system throughout the city with a ticket fare of 1 RMB for the ordinary buses and 2 RMB for the air-conditioned ones. It is easy and convenient to transfer between buses at different stops, and most buses operate from 5:30am to 10:30pm daily in order to fully meet the demand of commuters. The buses that run directly to Chengdu South Railway Station are: 16, 49, 76, 99, 111, 112, 120, 121, 133, 139, 147, 181, 187, 188, 236, 238, 303, 501, 806, 806B, 809, 815, 815A, 816, 816A, and 824.
The metro lines in Chengdu operate from 6:30am to 10:30pm daily. Metro Lines 1, 7, and 18 are available near Chengdu South Railway Station.
Metro Line 1: operating between Shenghu Road and Shijicheng.
Metro Line 7: operating around downtown Chengdu.
Metro Line 18: operating between Chengdu South Railway Station and Chengdu’s second airport.
Located at 1 Xiyi Road, Daobeizhan, Hehuachi Avenue, Jinniu District, Chengdu Railway Station can be reached by taking bus 16 from Chengdu South Railway Station.
Located at 4 Wanke Road, Baohe Avenue, Chenghua District, Chengdu East Railway Station can be reached from Chengdu South Railway Station by taking bus 49 and then bus 7 at Youleyuan. Commuters can also take bus 49 near Chengdu South Railway Station, and then bus 71 at Zhaojuesi Stop to Chengdu East Railway Station.
1. Bus 49 runs from Chengdu South Railway Station to Zhaojuesi Stop, and then buses 87 or 198 can be taken to reach the Panda Breeding and Research Center.
2. Metro line 1 goes from Chengdu South Railway Station to Sichuan Provincial Gym, and then bus 19 can be taken to Du Fu Thatched Cottage.
3. Metro line 1 also goes to Tianfu Square, and then metro line 2 can be taken to reach Qingyang Palace.
The service facilities in Chengdu South Railway Station mainly include ordinary waiting halls, cushioned-seat waiting halls, VIP waiting halls, mother and baby waiting halls, and automatic escalators as well as restaurants, tea houses and game centers, fully meeting the demands of all passengers.
