Kunming Weather in February

In February, the maximum temperature is 17 °C (63 °F) and the minimum temperature is 4 °C (40 °F). Wear spring attire, such as a light sweatsuit or a cowboy shirt in the daytime. For the evening, wear a jacket or thick sweater. It rains little so the weather is dry. Ultraviolet radiation is not very strong, but if you go outdoors, use sunscreen with SPF 8-12 and PA+ to protect your skin.

February sees several traditional minority festivals. From the 1st to 3rd of the first month in the Chinese lunar calendar, the Lieshen Festival of the Yi people is held. During these three days, numerous folk activities, such as court singing, lute dancing, bull fighting, and others, are held. The Mizhi Festival of the Sani minority (a kind of group ritual activity) and the Dage Festival (young man and young ladies dressing splendidly sing and dance together) are also held in February.
