1. Culture Street -- Fuzhou Road (福州路)

Fuzhou Road, the nationally renowned culture street, is an east-to-west road that is parallel to East Nanjing Road . It is one of the oldest roads in the Shanghai concessions. Fuzhou Road has enjoyed the reputation of "the top culture street in the Far East" for more than 100 years, because from then up to now, there have been many bookstores, publishing houses, newspaper publishers and stationary stores along the road.
Location: Fuzhou Road, Huangpu district, next to People's Square
Transportation: Take subway line 1, 2 or 8 to People's Square

2. Sunqiao Happy Harvest Festival (孙桥快乐丰收节)

The annual Sunqiao Happy Harvest Festival is held on September 21st of each year in the Sunqiao Modern Agricultural Development Zone in Shanghai's Pudong district. With the theme of "Low-Carbon Interaction of Urban and Rural Life," the festival attracts white-collar workers from nearby urban areas who wish to take in the beautiful and relaxing nature of rural life.

It is also a good choice for parents to take their children to spend a family holiday. The Sunqiao Agricultural Development Zone is the first integrated modern agricultural development zone in China, and it has many special attractions for tourists to experience. For example, there is an exotic fruits area, a desert area, a lingzhi (a type of mushroom) area, a soilless cultivation area and a traditional cultivation area, among others. All of these areas permit tourists to participate in many interesting activities such as picking oranges, pulling carrots, weeding grass and arranging flowers, etc.

Location: No. 185 Mianbei Road, Sunqiao, Pudong district, situated in the southeast corner of the Outer Ring Road

Transportation: The zone is 12 km from Pudong International Airport. It is accessible from other parts of the city by the urban trunk roads of Shenjiang Road (申江路 , Mianbei Road (沔北路), South Jinke Road (金科南路)and Huaxia Road, (华夏路) and by expressways Huangnan No. 1 and Huangdong No. 2

3. The 3D Magic Art Exhibition Hall (3D魔幻趣味馆)

All the 3D visual art works in the 3D Art Exhibition Hall are created and designed by Korean artists using advanced lifelike painting techniques to create vivid, visual magic effects for tourists, a new worldwide entertainment trend. Located near the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel, the 3D Magic Art Exhibition Hall is the first such art exhibition hall in China. The exhibition hall is really worth visiting. There are all sorts of 3D paintings demonstrating different themes, such as 3D Magic Effects, Ocean Adventure, Great Fortune, Exaggeration and Humor. Other magic scenes such as a magic cabin, magic furniture and glass mazes attract tourists as well!

4. The Pulled Noodles Experience Center (拉面星球体验馆)

The Pulled Noodles Experience Center entertains tourists with an unprecedented experience. It shows the distinct culinary art of cooked noodles for the first time in China and displays all kinds of different noodles from all over the world. Here tourists can go through the whole process of making pulled noodles and learning about the diverse noodle cultures from all around the world. Tourists can watch or even make noodles by themselves in some open workshops where people make noodles, process vegetables and perform other culinary tasks. And here tourists can find the answers to some of their pressing questions, such as how to turn a simple combination of flour and water into various noodles of different thicknesses, lengths and shapes? And how do chefs produce bowls of such steaming, deliciously aromatic food?

5. Duolun Road Cultural Celebrities Street (多伦路文化名人街)

Location: Duolun Road, Hongkou district, near North Sichuan Road

Transportation: Take Bus No. 18, 52, 70, 97 or 939 to the final stop

6. Jinshanzui Fishing Village (金山嘴渔村)

Jinshanzui Fishing Village is a beautiful sea "wonderland" whose views looking out to sea are sure to refresh and relax you. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Jinshanzui was already a main coastal fisheries production area and an important distribution center for fishery products, which led to hundreds of thousands of businessmen and merchants gathering in this little town and bringing in prosperous times with the fishing trade. Now, in order to make full use of the coastal area's advantages, the government of Jinshanzui district is planning to restore old streets in the village. Besides planning to unify the layout of the infrastructure, such as the water and power supply, the government is also planning to restore the entire little fishing village, even to such details as the roofs, walls, doors and windows of the residents' houses, the store signs, and the pavement.

Location: No. 6394, Huhang Highway, Jinshan district

Transportation: Take subway line 1 to Jinjiang Amusement Park, then take the Shimeixian Bus (石梅线) to Shihus Bus Station, then exchange to Shanyang No. 2 or Xiweixian (西卫线) or Fengweixian (奉卫线)

7. The Sailing Carnival (帆船嘉年华)

With the theme of "sailing culture, from the water," the Sailing Carnival is held by Shanghai Boat & Yacht Club (SBYC) with great support from the Shanghai International Conference Management Organization (SICMO). The sailing games are going to begin on October 2nd, 2012 and will last for three days. The sailing teams are supposed to enter the game on behalf of their respective enterprises, and finally only about six to twelve teams will get permission to compete. The Sailing Carnival is a part of the Shanghai Tourism Festival, and it encourages local people as well as tourists to visit and enjoy the games, aiming to promote the cohesive force and team spirit in enterprises while encouraging white-collar workers to engage in healthy activities.
