Day 1 Beijing Arrival

Private Transfer from Airport to Hotel
After your flight lands at Beijing airport, you will be met by your tour guide at the arrival hall, and will transfer you to your hotel by private car and driver. They will assist you with your luggage, hotel check-in, and ensure your trip in Beijing will go smoothly and worry-free.

Exploring Beijing
We leave rest of the day free for you to recover from your long-distance flight. If you are up to it, you can stretch your legs and explore what is nearby your hotel. Feel free to ask your tour guide for recommendations of what is around.

Day 2 See Less Touristy Parts of the Great Wall

Visit the Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall
You will be picked up in the morning to head out to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall that provides a spectacular view of the wall, watchtowers and magnificent scenery. The walls here are only partly restored, with much less tourists. Wear comfortable walking shoes, and get your camera ready to capture the beautiful scenery and ruins of the Wall.

Good to Know
If you prefer hiking 3 to 4 hours, we will be happy to arrange preofessional hiking guide who will escort you to do hiking from Jinshanling to Simatai West. Please let your travel advisor know what you need.

Day 3 Classic Beijing – Flight to Xi'an

You have a full day to visit Beijing’s classic sights to Tian’anmen Square, the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and Hutong. You can hop on a rickshaw or ride a bike through the maze of the narrow alleys of Hutong, and visit a local family and get to know their daily life. Have lunch at a small quaint restaurant hidden in the Hutong alley.
From there we will get you back in time to get your flight to Xi’an.

Did you know …
The word "hutong" originates from the word "hottog" which means "a well" in Mongolian. In ancient times villagers dug a well and then lived around it.  Visiting the hutongs will definitely enrich your experience and give you an eye opening stay while in Beijing.

Day 4 Xi'an – the Terracotta Warriors

Today we will take you to see the famous Terracotta Warriors buried more than 2,200 years ago. A must visit while in Xi’an. After lunch at a popular local restaurant, we will head back to the city. There you can walk on the ancient City Wall, or if you prefer, we can rent a bike and cycle along the city wall for a good view of the city.

The First Emperor, who unified China 2,200 years ago, Emperor Qin, is where China got its name, ordered the creation of this army!

Good to know
In the evening, you can visit the Muslim Quarter, walk around the many stalls and sample some of their local delicacies.   The Bell Tower is nearby which is lit up at night.

Day 5 Xi'an Highlights Tour – Flight to Guilin

Xi’an, a place of significant importance in history with many historical sites and relics. Get to know more of this city’s splendid history with a visit to Shaanxi History Museum. Nearby, we will also see the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, one of China’s most famous Buddhist pagodas built during the Tang Dynasty. Jiaozi or dumplings are a staple food in North China, therefore we will arrange a small dumpling making class for you to experience local culture.

Flight to Guilin and Private Transfer to Hotel
Transfer to Xi’an airport for your evening flight to Guilin. Upon arrival, your Guilin tour guide will meet you at the airport, with a private car and driver to transfer you to your hotel.

Day 6 Li River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo

One Day Karst Scenery Tour
Enjoy the beautiful surroundings of karst mountains, bamboo groves, buffaloes bathing in the river during summer and the sound of children swimming along the river banks. The trip along the Li River is a must.

We give you the choice of taking a 3-4 hour cruise on an air-conditioned boat and a simple Chinese lunch is provided.  The cruise will take you directly to Yangshuo wharf. From there we will take you to your hotel.

The other alternative is, travel by private car to a small village and take the bamboo-motorized raft that seats up to 4 people. The raft ride is about 2 hours, and you can ask the fisherman on the raft to stop at any place for you to capture the shot you want. You will disembark at a small ancient town, Xing Ping. You can stroll along the streets of this small ancient town and if you are feeling energetic, climb Laozhai Mountain to get a bird’s eye view of the countryside. Your private car will be waiting for you in XingPing and take you to your hotel in Yangshuo. 

Good to Know
If you decide to take the bamboo-motorized raft, please prepare a packed lunch and drinks for the journey. (Please note: During to the rainy season, rafts may not be operating due to the dangers of the river at high levels, therefore we will arrange the cruise for you.)

As the evening is free, our suggestion for you is to see the Impression San Liu Jie Show that is performed on the Li River with the karst mountains as a backdrop. Ask your tour guide if you need help to get tickets.

Day 7 Yangshuo

Biking in local villages
Your guide will accompany you cycling or riding through the countryside. You can hire a bike or an electric motor-scooter or we can arrange a driver to take you on a golf-style car. The option is yours, at your leisurely pace!  Traveling through the villages, exploring the countryside you will learn and understand more about rural life in China.  We will arrange for you to meet with a local family. 

Cooking class is the activity for the rest of the afternoon and evening is free for you to rest or explore Yangshuo town and nightlife or if you want to learn more about Chinese art and craft, we can arrange for you to do Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting, or even Tai-Chi. Just ask your guide for any recommendations!

Good to know:
There are four popular biking routes around Yangshuo, the road conditions are more or less the same in the countryside-bumpy, it may get muddy and slippery when it rains, and watch out for pot-holes! That is all part of the adventure!

Day 8 Yangshuo – Guilin - Shanghai

Hotel: Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World (Superior Room)

After a hearty breakfast, it’s time to leave the countryside and head to China’s metropolis city – Shanghai. We will arrange for you to travel from Yangshuo directly to Guilin airport for your flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, you will be met by your guide, a private car and driver will take you to your hotel.

The rest of the afternoon and evening is yours, where you can relax! 

Good to know:
Take an evening stroll along The Bund and the Huangpu River or enjoy an acrobatic show. Shanghai at night will indeed dazzle you by its bright lights!

Day 9 Shanghai – a Unique Fasion of East and West / Colonial Architecture and Modernistic Buildings

Shanghai's colonial legacy combined with Chinese culture has created a unique fusion of East and West, and ancient architecture to modernistic buildings. In the morning, we will take you to Shanghai’s old façade where you will immerse yourself with locals at Caoyang New Neighborhood. Spend time with a local family where they can show you around, as well you can practice shadow boxing with the locals. Go to the free market to buy some vegetables, together with the elderly members of the family.

After lunch, you will visit Yuyuan Garden, located in the center of Shanghai’s old city! The garden built during the Ming Dynasty. From there, you will head to Oriental Pearl TV Tower, where you can get a magnificent view of the city’s ever-changing modern skyline. 

Take a look at Shikumen which means "Stone Warehouse Gate", is a traditional Shanghainese architectural style building combining Western and Chinese elements that first appeared in the 1860s. 

Did you know …
At the height of their popularity, there were 9000 shikumen-style buildings in Shanghai, comprising 60% of the total housing of the city, but today the proportion is much lower as most Shanghainese live in large apartment buildings.

Day 10 Shanghai – Suzhou

Suzhou Landscape Garden Tour – The City of Gardens
In the morning, we will transfer you to the train station for a bullet train from Shanghai to Suzhou, which only takes 30 minutes. With the many landscape gardens in Suzhou and we have chosen only the best – enjoy a peaceful walk through the Humble Administrator’s Garden and Lion Grove, each with its own unique features, which you will soon discover. You will then head to the symbol of Suzhou at Tiger Hill. The leaning pagoda stands atop with over 1000 years of history and stands over 2 meters tilted from its original position.

Did you know:
Suzhou is often dubbed the "Venice of the East" or "Venice of China".

Good to know
If you are wondering what to do in the evening, you can visit the night markets, where there are many stalls, eateries and entertainment that will give you a buzz and provide lasting memories.

Day 11 Suzhou – Tongli Ancient Water Town Tour

Hotel: Pan Pacific Suzhou (Deluxe Room)

Hop on a rickshaw and enjoy a ride through the old streets and lanes of Suzhou to get a glimpse of the lives of the locals. You will then continue on to Tongli Ancient Water Town. Relax on a wooden boat as you are winding through waterways and under many stone bridges. We will make a stop for you to enjoy Chinese tea and lunch at a tea house along on the water bank.

Day 12 Suzhou – Shanghai Departure

Transfer directly from Suzhou to Shanghai Pudong International Airport for your departure flight. Your guide will accompany you till the point of security check and wave goodbye.
