Q
How Shall I Dress On The Ship And How Many Formal Nights Are There On My Sailing in Yangtze Cruise?
Asked by Sunny (Apr. 21, 2011) Reply
A Jane Li (Apr. 21, 2011) replied:
No special formal dress is required on the ship. Be sure to take clothes that are suitable for the shore excursions or to enjoy scenery from the ship deck. Clothes to protect you from the hot sun in summer and strong wind in winter are essential.

Usually most ships will have two formal nights, the Captain's Welcome Cocktail Party and Dinner and the Captain's Farewell Dinner. The ship suggest that appropriate dress is:men coat and tie, and ladies a dress or pantsuit, but the decision is yours to make based on your baggage restrictions.

Cabin allocation is at the discretion of the ship. Assignments are not given in advance. You may request a specific cabin on check-in based which will be assessed on cabin availability at that time. Requests before boarding attract an additional fee (RMB50-RMB300) based on the class of ship. No guarantee of success is given by the ship.
Q
How can I find the pier where the ship leaves from on my own if I only book Yangtze cruise through you company?
Asked by Dennis (Apr. 19, 2011) Reply
A Jane Li (Apr. 19, 2011) replied:
Downstream cruises normally board at Chaotianmen cruise pier in Chongqing. Upstream cruises board at Xinshiji cruise pier in Yichang. You can go there by taxi. The Cruise Company has the right without prior notice to change boarding port for any reason. You will need to call the ship by phone call to confirm the boarding pier 1 day before departure. The contact number will be in our confirmation letter. If the phone for the ship is continually busy or unworkable please call your travel advisor or China Highlights office for help.
Q
Will I suffer from motion sickness on the Cruise in Li River and Yangztze?
Asked by Wendy (Apr. 19, 2011) Reply
A Jane Li (Apr. 19, 2011) replied:
It is a very smooth journey in Li River, and you can also enjoy a smooth journey on Yangtze Cruise, in all the years that we have been organizing Yangtze Cruise for our customers, we have had only one case reported to us. If you suspect that you may suffer from motion sickness, please be sure to bring the correct medication and follow a few simple guidelines. -- Avoid heavy, greasy, and acidic foods in the hours before you travel. These types of foods – such as coffee, bacon, sausage – are slow to digest, and in the case of coffee, can speed up dehydration. Better choices include breads, cereals, grains, milk, water, apples, or bananas. Do not skip eating but also do not overeat. -- Position yourself where the least motion is felt, usually in the center of the deck, and avoid going below deck. Take deep breaths and stare out into the distance. Focus on the horizon, not on waves or moving objects. -- Drink small quantities of water often.
