Weather: May is a warm month in general, with changing weather. Daytime and nighttime temperatures vary greatly, the average temperatures are 23 °C (73 °F) and 16 °C (60 °F).

Clothing: Dressing in layers with a thin coat is appropriate, as it may become very hot at noon and colder later. You may also need a sweater.

Be aware: The Labor Day holiday is between May 1st and 3rd, and most Chinese people have three days off from work. Transportation routes are busy and tourist attractions are crowded. If your travel date coincides with the holiday, plan in advance.

hello.. would like to visit shanghai and beijing this coming may 15-23 2013.. would like to ask what is the possible weather condition during the said dates? Is it cold or hot? im from the philippines and i wiuld like to experience cold weather since philippines is a tropical island and its often hot.. pls advise.. thank u. would really appreciate it.. thanks

May is a warm month in Shanghai, with changing weather. Daytime and nighttime temperatures vary greatly, and the average daytime and nighttime temperatures are 16 °C (60 °F) and 25 °C (76 °F), respectively, from May15-23. Rainfall is still low this month. It is warm during the day and cool at night. A T-shirt and a light jacket is enough to cope with the weather.

The average low and high temperatures from May15-23 in Beijing are 13 °C (55 °F) and 28 °C (81 °F), respectively. It is a good season to go to see flowers in Beijing, It is also one of the best times to visit the Great Wall.
