Xin'an River Hiking
The Xin'an River, at the foot of the Yellow Mountain, winds its way among forests and fields, and join the Qiantang River in Zhejiang Province. The river is very clean, and the ancient villages and fields along the riverside make the scenery beautiful and charming.
The most beautiful part of this hiking trail starts from Nanyuankou Village to Kengkou Village, where hikers can take a car to Huangshan City. The hike is about 10 kilometers long and hikers will pass through a number of ancient villages on the way to the destination. This is an easy level hiking route. The best time to take the route is in March, when rape flowers are in bloom.
Nanyuankou Village is about 40 minutes' drive from Huangshan City. Around 10 minutes' hiking will lead to another village, Yuelingxia Village. The road lead to mountains behind the village. Another hour walking, travelers will reach Yuelingwu Village, which is surrounded by mountains and a stream below crosses the village. From the village, the hiking route goes along the river. about 30 mintues's hiking, hikiers will arrive at Hongling Village. ongling village is also called Maihuayu Village, which translates to “selling flower fishing village”. However, this village has nothing to do with fishing, and the main produce of the village is bonsai. The villagers grow the bonsai and sell them to make a living. The bonsai business brings treasure to this remote village, and many families have been able to build new houses.
Departing from Hongling Village, the road climbs up along a mountain. The mountain is covered by a lot of tea plantations. The top of the mountain offers a beautiful view of Hongling Village at the mountain foot.
After going down the mountain, the route winds among fields. In spring, it is a sea of rape flowers. Further walking will lead to Kengkou Village.
