Hangzhou Weather in December

Snow scenery in Hangzhou in December

December in Hangzhou feels colder because of high humidity. The temperature ranges from 5°C (41°F) to 11°C (52°F) at the lowest at the beginning of the December, but it decreases to an average low of 2°C (36°F) at the end of this month.

In spite of the coldness, there is sunshine sometimes. December is the driest month, but it is rainy now and then. The temperature differs by 8°C (46°F) on average between day and night. We recommend a down jacket or an overcoat to protect you from the cold, especially outdoors at night.

Hangzhou's scenery in December can be a spectacular picture. You can see the famous "Melting Snow on Broken Bridge", which is one of the ten classic West Lake scenic sites, if it is snowy. Traveling to Hangzhou at this time of the year is a great idea if you don’t mind the cold, as you can take advantage of low season prices. hi im muna from malaysia. im planning to go to shanghai on the early of january (around 9jan). what would the temperature usually be like around that date? would it be freezing cold, or snowy cold, or chilled cold? and what is the nearest place for me to visit by land that is snowing just to catch some snow experiences? will hangzhou be snowing by that time? thank you
Dear Sir or Madam, The average temperature is about 1-8℃(33.8-46.4℉), it is chilled cold. It is difficult to see the snow in Shanghai or around Shanghai, such as Hangzhou, Suzhou, as it is not heavy enough. You might see the ice during the cold season. If you would like to see the snow, you'd better visit Harbin city. It is a good place to see the snow sculptures and ice sculptures. We have some packages for reference. I am planning a family trip (2 adults and 3 almost adults ) to Shanghai and Hangzhou in mid December 2012. Any recommendations on sightseeing? We would also like places full of electronic gadgets too. What is the weather like?Is is easy to book hotels at this time? Thanks

Hi Hubert, Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, The Shanghai World Financial Center, The Bund in Shanghai and the West Lake, Lingyin Temple, Six Harmonies Pagoda, etc. in Hangzhou are all highlights.

For places full of electronic gadgets, you can go to the Cyber Market in Shanghai.  Located in the Middle Huaihai Road, Cybermart is the most central market for all sorts of gadgetry, including DVD players, iPods, laptops, digital cameras and camcorders, as well as blank CDs, DVDs, memory sticks and software. Although China is not the best place in Asia to get discounted electronic products, you can get a reasonable price here if you are good at haggling.

The weather in Shanghai and Hangzhou is very cold, please prepare warm clothes like down jacket. As it is the dull season for tourism, so it is easy to book hotels.
