By Air
Actually there's no airport in Qufu city. However you can take a flight to Jinan – the capital city of Shandong province and take a 2-hours bus ride to Qufu. Otherwise you can fly to Xuzhou – a big city in Jiangsu province and take a 3.5-hours bus ride to Qufu.
Subway
Qufu Train Station is a small station, about 4 kilometers southeast to Qufu. There are few trains to Beijing, Xinxiang, Jinan and some other cities within Shandong Province. Bus No. 5 runs between the Train Station and Qufu City.
In order to preserve the hometown of Confucius, the Beijing-Shanghai railway bypass 15 kilometers from Qufu to Yanzhou which means you can first take a train to Yanzhou and then go to Yanzhou Bus Station to take a bus to Qufu.
Tips: Yanzhou Bus Station is very close to Yanzhou Train Station. It is one of the largest train stations in southwest Shandong province. The bus from Yanzhou to Qufu runs every 15 minutes from 6:00 am to 21:00 pm. It is about half an hour's ride to Qufu with the ticket price of 4 Yuan.
City Transportation
Qufu Bus Station runs daily shuttle bus to major tourist attractions in Qufu.
Qufu is not a big city, there are not too many public buses and you need to wait a long time for a public bus. But don't worry you can try the rickshaws in town. It's quite another experience to enjoy the local culture and customs with the price of 5 Yuan per person usually.
Highway
Qufu has a very convenient highway system. The Beijing-Fuzhou Express Way and National High Way No. 104 pass by Qufu from north to south. Rizhao-Heze Express Way and National High Way No. 327 pass by Qufu from east to west.
You can take a bus from Qufu to Beijing and most major cities within Shandong province in Qufu Bus Station which is located in the center of Qufu city.
